What We're Actually Doing
This started as a personal project to explore how AI could help with Bible study. The idea is simple: make it easier for people to ask questions about Scripture and get helpful, biblically-grounded responses.
We're not theologians or seminary graduates. This is a personal project by a Christian who codes, trying to build something meaningful for fellow believers. We're learning as we go, making mistakes, and always depending on God's grace.
Disclaimer: “This AI tool is for study assistance only. It's not a replacement for personal Bible study, prayer, or pastoral guidance. Always test everything against Scripture.”
“Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”— 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
What Guides This Project
These are the principles I try to keep in mind while building this.
Scripture-Centered
Every feature aims to help people understand and engage with God's Word more deeply.
Humble & Honest
We're not perfect. This is a work in progress, built with reverence for Scripture and awareness of our limitations.
Open & Accessible
Making Bible study tools available to anyone, regardless of their background or technical experience.
Faith-Driven
Built by someone who loves Jesus and wants to help others dig deeper into His Word.
The Real Timeline
How this project actually came together (so far).
Started building this as a side project to learn about AI and help with Bible study
Got basic verse lookup and AI chat working (with lots of coffee and late nights)
Added Bible reading interface and more study tools
Continuously improving and adding features as time allows
Behind the Scenes
What's Under the Hood
- • Built with Next.js and TypeScript
- • Uses OpenAI's API for AI responses
- • Bible text from public domain sources
- • Hosted on Vercel (when it works)
- • Mobile-first design (we learned this the hard way)
What's Still Missing
- • Better error handling (working on it)
- • More Bible translations
- • User accounts and saved studies
- • Offline functionality
- • Probably lots of bugs we haven't found yet
Important: This AI assistant isn't infallible. It's trained on biblical texts and commentaries, but it can make mistakes. Always compare what it says with Scripture itself and seek wisdom from mature believers.
Want to Help?
This is a passion project, but if you find it helpful and want to contribute, there are a few ways you can help it grow.
Or just pray that it's actually helpful for people studying God's Word 🙏
